I asked myself a few days ago how important is to know business when you design e-commerce templates. And I tell you why I ask this. I have seen a lot of websites that don’t make money even if they have a good traffic and a lot of daily visitors. Why is that? Well, first of all, because traffic probably is not that targeted and because they are blogs and not “regular” websites. Whatever that means. But this is not the main point, in my opinion.

How can an e-commerce web template influence sales?

I think that one of the most important things is the fact that they don’t use a proper templates, suited for e-commerce. Indeed, when you are into this business of e-commerce, you need to rely on a good design to make things work because this will heavily influence how you sell and how you make money out of it. Seems that there are some talented people out there who know how to bring traffic to a website. But this is not all, isn’t it? Beside bringing traffic, you need to make money out of it and this is an other science. E-commerce templates that are designed specially by people with knowledge in this are essential. Designers who know their way around it know how to tweak a site in order to make it work for online sales. There is a very thin like when it comes to tweaking e-commerce websites and a good template may bring you money in your pocket. There is a heat map in selling online, there are some particular places where you should position your best offers, your best selling products so people always see them.

Also offering the customer the possibility to always see what’s in his shopping cart, no matter where he is, or making the shopping cart always visible and easy to manage, all these come as features of an online store, features that can be added with just one good ecommerce website template. Think about it next time when you use a cheap one! Does it bring you enough value to make your store work?
